His well researched techniques which emphasize patient satisfaction and safety in high-volume liposuction procedures were the topic of his article published in the fall of 2003 in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He was an invited lecturer at the national plastic surgery conference held at New York University Hospital Center in 2003. Mark E. Richards, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Yale University with honors, and his medical degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. He went on to complete five years of residency in general surgery, two additional years of residency in plastic surgery, and was certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Mark Richards continues to update his skills and knowledge through many hours of continuing medical education (CME) each year.
Since 1999, Dr. Richards has been consistently recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area's "best plastic surgeons", and listed in Baltimore Magazine as "the doctor to go to". Nationally, he has been recognized as one of the "Outstanding Young Men of America", awarded to him both in 1996 and 1998.
